Drawing and Annealing

The two operations that decide wire quality — size on the drawing line, structure in the furnace — run on equipment from ASSOMAC and PRECONS.

Inverted Vertical Drawing (IVD) Lines

ASSOMAC inverted vertical drawing machines draw coil-to-coil with the finished wire wound directly onto carriers — 2,500 MT per month of drawing capacity across finished sizes from 2.80 mm to 30 mm. The IVD design keeps a large coil under control at high speed, which is what holds diameter and ovality steady along a 1-tonne coil.

Bell-Type Annealing Furnaces

All furnaces are SCADA-implemented — cycles programmed by grade, monitored live and logged per charge. PRECONS bell furnaces anneal wire rod and drawn coils under a nitrogen atmosphere after a vacuum purge. The sealed inner cover and 360° radiant heating give uniform temperature through the whole coil stack, which is what produces an even spheroidized structure with decarburization kept in check.

PRECONS bell-type furnaces give Indisteel 700 MT per month of controlled-atmosphere annealing, with the flexibility to run alloy, boron and MS grades side by side.

What Our Annealing Delivers

Seven results we check on every charge — the reasons customers buy annealed wire from Indisteel rather than annealing rod themselves.

≥ 80% Spheroidization

Controlled sub-critical cycles in sealed bell furnaces produce a spheroidized structure of 80% and above, verified under the microscope on every charge.

Uniform Grain Size

360° radiant heating and long soak periods equalise temperature through the whole coil stack, so grain size and hardness are uniform from the outer wrap to the core.

Zero or Negligible Decarburization

Nitrogen atmosphere after a vacuum purge keeps oxygen out of the retort — decarburization on the annealed coil is held at or near the level of the input wire rod.

Bright Surface Finish

Coils come out of the furnace clean and bright, without scale or oxide film, ready for pickling and phosphating or for direct dispatch as annealed coil.

Shorter Cycle Time

Bell furnaces working in rotation keep charges moving, so annealed material is available without waiting for a single furnace to free up.

SCADA-Controlled Cycles

All furnaces run on SCADA: heating, soaking and cooling profiles are programmed by grade, monitored live and logged for every charge — so the same cycle is repeated exactly, lot after lot, with a record for audit.

Shorter Lead Time, Consistent Quality

Annealing capacity of 700 MT per month against 2,500 MT of drawing capacity, coil-wise inspection and grade-wise hardness windows mean customers get the same annealed wire, on time, every lot.

Raw material

Rod from Integrated Mills

CHQ and drawing-quality wire rod from JSW, Tata Steel, JSPL, Bhushan Steel and RINL (Vizag Steel), received with mill test certificates and re-verified on our spectrometer. Rod heat numbers stay attached to every coil we produce.
